Christine
Prior (PhD), archaeologist
Rafter Radiocarbon Laboratory manager. Research interests include investigating problems of
small AMS samples, upwelling correction factors for marine samples, development of
techniques for isolating microbotanicals such as pollen or phytoliths from peat or
sediments for AMS dating.
Nancy
Beavan Athfield
(PhD)
Specialist in techniques for processing bone. Research interest is identification of
dietary influences on radiocarbon ages of bone. Responsible for
coordinating the marketing of the commercial activities of the Rafter Radiocarbon
Laboratory.
Dawn
Chambers (BSc)
Sample coordinator. Responsible for coordinating sample flow through the laboratory and
laboratory administration, including handling client enquiries. For most people, Dawn will
be the first point of contact with the laboratory.
Andrei Gaidamaka (PhD), physicist
Background in nuclear physics, solid state physics, and applications of nuclear science. Responsible for
accelerator operations and conducting AMS measurements.

Gilligan
Sample Processing Laboratory technician, working on sample processing and combustion. Ensures that the archiving of laboratory records and sample materials is kept up to date.
Margaret
Norris
Sample Processing Laboratory technician specialising in the processing of water samples for dating. Also has experience in gas chromatograph and HPLC techniques and in atmospheric trace gas measurements.
Kelly
Sutton (BSc Chem)
Sample Processing Laboratory technician, working on sample processing and combustion. Ensures that the lab complies with the Hazardous and New Organisms Act and is involved with on site health and safety issues.
